Shingles vaccination not at goal levels for U.S. seniors


Just one in five people over age 60 in the U.S. have been vaccinated against a painful eruption of herpes zoster, also known as shingles, despite recommendations that all of them should get the shot. Shingles is caused by the same virus as chicken pox, which remains dormant in the body and can reactivate in times of stress or when the immune system is weakened.
