NY attorney general settles probes over lab testing

New York's attorney general has announced agreements with Direct Laboratories LLC and Laboratory Corporation of America to stop them from enabling New Yorkers to undergo lab tests without a licensed medical provider involved as required by state law. Louisiana-based DirectLabs advertises "direct access" to laboratory testing, and sells requisitions directly to consumers for over 250 different tests for parasites, heavy metals, thyroid levels, vitamin levels, cancer markers and specific diseases.
